About Dr Kavi Naidoo

Dr Kavi Naidoo, son of Dr D K Naidoo, completed his MBChB (Bachelor of surgery and medicine) at the university of Pretoria in South Africa in 2021. During the degree he was drawn to the human mind, body and spirit so there came a time where he decided to follow his intuition in the pursuit of understanding and “communicating” with the body on a more wholistic level.

From the age of 4 years, he experienced psychic phenomena but only later through constant synchronous coincidences did he start to acknowledge the validity and use of being in tune. This journey subsequently found him becoming a Reiki Master. Now Dr Kavi Naidoo works to integrate energy work with the knowledge of western medicine to best benefit the patient. He works with the Power of Energy to bring us inner balance, well-being and the raising of consciousness.

While we may not always get what we want when we want it; we do find what we need when we are open and receptive. Every person who sees a benefit should thank first themselves, they have done the hard work of taking that first step.

Reiki – what is it?

Reiki healing is a gentle yet powerful holistic practice that aims to restore balance and promote healing by channelling energy from the entire universe around us into the patient. Originating in Japan in the early 20th century, Reiki combines elements of traditional Japanese healing with spiritual practices. The word "Reiki" itself comes from two Japanese words: "Rei," meaning universal, and "Ki," which translates to life force energy. This energy is believed to flow through all living things, sustaining life and influencing well-being.

The history of reiki

Reiki was founded by Mikao Usui in the 1920s after a profound spiritual experience during a 21-day meditation retreat on Mount Kurama. Usui developed the system as a way to heal himself and others, combining techniques from ancient Buddhist practices with a new understanding of energy work. He trained several students and established the first Reiki clinic in Tokyo, where he treated a diverse range of ailments.

The practice began to spread internationally in the mid-20th century, particularly through the efforts of Hawayo Takata, a Japanese-American woman who studied under Usui. She introduced Reiki to the West, simplifying the methods and teachings to make them accessible to a broader audience. Takata's efforts played a significant role in popularizing Reiki, especially in the United States, where it gained traction in the holistic health community.

How Reiki Works

At its core, Reiki is based on the principle that everything is composed of energy, including our thoughts, emotions, and physical bodies. Practitioners believe that when the life force energy is flowing freely, we experience health and well-being. Conversely, blockages or imbalances in this energy can lead to physical or emotional issues.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner uses a light touch or hovers their hands above the recipient’s body to facilitate the flow of energy. I personally use the hands-off method as taught by my master to ensure that all patients feel comfortable at all time regardless of gender and age differences. The process is deeply relaxing and can induce a meditative state, allowing the body to release tension and stress. Practitioners often channel energy to specific areas of the body where they sense blockages, helping to clear and realign the energy pathways.

While scientific research on Reiki is still evolving, many report benefits such as reduced stress, enhanced relaxation, and relief from pain. There is no harm that can come from reiki or energy healing in general. The intent with which one is conducting a session is of the upmost importance, as long as one means well, there can only be a good impact on the patient. It is a fairly well-known concept that if you are surrounded by positive people in your life, you feel well and tend to progress more smoothly. Reiki is just like that, but on a much more simple and honest level. Instead of benefiting from just a circle of friends we benefit from the entire universe in Reiki.

Dr. Kavi Naidoo's reiki sessions have transformed my life. I feel more balanced and at peace. Highly recommend his services for anyone seeking healing.
